New Acer Iconia TAb A1-810 Full Specification

Acer Iconia Tablet with no support for GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS. This is not a GSM device, it will not work on any GSM network worldwide.

The A1 isn't what you would describe as a good-looking tablet, but it's passable. It measures in with dimensions of 208.7x145.7x11.1mm and weighs 410g, what that means in real-world terms is that it isn't the lightest or thinnest, but it's still reasonably easy/comfortable to use with one hand.

There is a bit of an issue with the A1's plasic and bendy screen, but other than that it feels pretty well built. We're optimistic that it won't break should you accidentally drop it (note: we haven't done this, and nor should you).

Acer Iconia A1: specs at a glance

What's on offer? For £149 you get all you need in a tablet. There's a decent 7.9-inch screen, with a reasonable resolution of 768x1024 pixels (162ppi); 5MP camera and a VGA front-facing camera; 1GB RAM; 1.2GHz processor; Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean; 16GB of internal storage and the sizable kicker of a microSD card slot.

Acer Iconia A1: Screen

With a price tag of £149 you're not going to get a great displat. What you expect is something that looks reasonably sharp and is responsive to the touch – that's exactly what the Acer Iconia A1 offers.

The A1's screen is a dead-heat specs-wise with Apple's iPad mini, both offering a 7.9-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitative touchscreen, and 16M colours at a resolution of 768x1024 pixels (162ppi).

In terms of real-usage, it's fair to say that there is no wow-factor here with this screen, and some of the smaller symbols/app icons look a little fuzzy. But you wouldn't take a look at the screen and think it's low-resolution.

The only slight grumble we have with it, is that the screen itself feels flimsy/bendy to the touch and doesn't fill you with confidence. It's clearly not the Gorilla Glass we've come to expect in more expensive mobile devies, but rather a bit more plasticky.

New Scer Liquid S1 full Phone specification

This Phone also available as Acer Liquid S1 Duo with dual SIM card slot.
Back in June the popular laptop manufacturer Acer announced their new 5.7-inch Android phablet, the Acer Liquid S1 smartphone. Coming in with a massive 5.7-inch Note style display with a 720p resolution and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and now this week it’s officially available in Taiwan for just $430.

With a pretty well rounded device all coming in at a fair price the Acer S1 is a smartphone worth looking at. Offering a MediaTek MT6589T 1.5GHz quad-core processor accompanied by 1GB of RAM, with an 8 megapixel camera on the rear and 2 up front. Then we can’t forget Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on board, with some UI tweaks of course.

The Liquid S1 features stereo DTS surround sound speakers, and a decently sized 2,400 mAh battery is under the hood. Hopefully that will be enough to keep that 1280 x 720p HD display coming in at 5.7-inches juiced up all day. To round it out we have dual-SIM slots and even micro-SD for expanding that internal storage.

With Android 4.2 Jelly Bean the S1 offers some floating UI elements for true multi-tasking, and even voice unlock features as a few things to differentiate them from the competition. It’s currently up for sale starting this week in Taiwan for 12,900 TWD, roughly $430 USD, and will likely stay on that side of the pond.

The Acer Liquid S1 offers some interesting new things, and hopefully we’ll be able to give it a look soon. Who’s interested in this Galaxy Note-like device?

New Acer Liquid Z3 Full Phone Specification

This Phone also available as Acer Liquid Z3 Duo with dual SIM card slot.

Acer has been working on a new 3.5-inch smartphone for a while now – an Android handset that is supposedly good despite its smaller package. However, we sure hope that the newly announced Acer Liquid Z3 isn't the device the company has in mind. This new low-cost model comes with specs that put it in the entry-level category, including a 1GHz dual-core processor of unknown make and model, a 3.5-inch display of presumably mediocre resolution, 4GB of storage, and a 3MP rear camera. What makes it even clearer that the Acer Liquid Z3 is aimed at budget-conscious buyers is the availability of a dual-SIM version of the device.

The petite proportions of the Acer Liquid Z3 are supposed to be its stand-out feature. It measures 109 by 60 millimeters, with a thickness of 10.4 millimeters, and weighs 120 grams. These figures put it into the same category with low-end rivals like the Sony Xperia E and the HTC Desire 200. The Z3's lead, however, in terms of size is only marginal. Acer is also trying to differentiate its Liquid Z3 smartphone with the implementation of several pre-defined user profiles. These include:

Basic Mode: For youngsters with call and text functions
Senior Mode: Messages, radio, weather, magnify, clock, quick call contacts
Classic mode: All main functions in a simple and organized layout for first time smartphone users
Keypad mode: For people who primarily use voice and need their keypad right away

But at the end of the day, the best thing about the Acer Liquid Z3 seems to be its low price. In Europe, the handset will be offered for as low as €99 (about $132), which is dirt cheap for a fully functional Android smartphone. It is also nice that Android 4.2 comes out of the box, which is a fairly recent version of the platform, and support for Acer's cloud-based service called AcerCloud has been thrown in as well.

Available in black or white, The Acer Liquid Z3 will launch in mid-August across parts of Europe, including Belgium, Netherlands, Ukraine, France, Spain, UK, Italy, Germany and Russia. In addition, Acer will release a selection of accessories, such as flip-covers, replaceable back-covers in multiple colors, and a standard screen protector film.
